CABIN 1st Birthday - 28 November
Boy oh boy, where has this year gone!? It seems like just yesterday we were picking up fruit and Lucozade for Cooly G and gearing up for our first night last November. Now, 6 epic parties later, it is with huge thanks, great pleasure and massive excitement that we invite you to the big one – the first Birthday bash.

Over the course of the last year we’ve had the joy of housing such huge talents as Alex Coulton, Appleblim, Deadboy, DjRum, Asusu, Cooly G, West Norwood Cassette Library and many, many more, producing some of the best sets we’ve had the pleasure of hearing.

Now, a full 12 months on since our first night, we’re set to hold what we think will be our biggest and best party to date, welcoming - all the way from Canada - a live set from the incredible Basic Soul Unit and a sought-after set from the brilliant and elusive Hessle Audio talent Elgato. Not to mention a host of performances from the ever-fantastic Cabin residents.

Basic Soul Unit

Hailing from Toronto, Basic Soul Unit has released on many prestigious labels, from Berghain’s Ostgut Ton to Boddika’s Nonplus+. Stuart Li a.k.a Basic Soul Unit has made his mark on underground dance music, creating his own sound within a broad spectrum of house and techno. Tracks like ‘Soulspeak’ showcase the subtlety of Li’s production, with Shed’s remix having gained much critical acclaim for the Canadian producer. The end of 2012 saw Li release his first album as Basic Soul Unit titled ‘Motional Response’ on Chicago’s Still Music. More recently, Cassy has included 2 of his tracks on her Fabric 71 mix CD and Li has undertaken the new endeavor of launching his own label ‘Lab.our’. We at Cabin HQ have the highest regard for Li’s melodic and innovative approach to production and cannot wait to showcase his live set as part of his European tour. Expect soulful melodies intertwining with jacking rhythms, and plenty of unreleased Stuart Li goodness.

Elgato has been a stalwart on Hessle Audio ever since his notorious first release ‘Tonight/Blue’ in 2010. Each release has pushed the boundaries of bass music while retaining much dance floor functionality. Elgato has been displaying his DJing skills since then alongside his partner-in-crime Bilal at their Bruk parties/radio show. He has shown his foresight in bringing together house, dubstep and funky rhythms, and this hybridization has greatly informed his approach to DJing and production. One might remember his track ‘Blue’ as a standout part of Peverelist’s RA podcast from 2010. His take on bass music relies on subtle rhythms, syrupy vocals and a killer groove. Having seen him perform as part of the Hessle crew at Outlook, it is fair to say he has been one producer high on Cabin’s wishlist of bookings.
