“I never thought I liked drum and bass until I saw it played by a live band!”

NRFTW returns to the Rhythm Factory for their third session of the year with three more of the finest live dnb and breaks bands that the UK and Europe has to offer! Yes that’s right, Dnb and breaks performed by live bands!

Join us as we continue to break down boundaries with the best live bands in dance music. Last year we were described as “Best drum and bass night” by London lite, Knowledge Mag said “If you’re fed up with overpriced djs rinsing the same old wobble, make this night your number one priority !” and Mixmag said "Bands are queuing up to play in the forthcoming months so if you foolishly haven't witnessed drum & bass played live yet, and want to know what all the fuss is about, then you must check out NRFTW."

First up we have a new band to NRFTW hailing all the way from Bristol. Dr Meaker is a producer who, with his 8-piece live band, presents one of the most exciting live dance acts in Britain right now.
Using soul, jazz and reggae influences to produce the Meaker sound, Dr Meaker make music which has commercial appeal whilst remaining true to it’s underground roots. This unique sound is taken to a live audience with an ensemble that includes Bristol’s finest musicians, some of whom have worked with the likes of Bugz In Attic, Kosheen, Roots Manuva, Kasabian and Massive Attack amongst others.
Dr Meaker’s debut single “Moving And Grooving” is set to be a hit. The band have been playing ‘Moving And Grooving’ across the country in their live set and if the roar of the crowd at Glastonbury is anything to go by, it’ll only be a matter of time before we start seeing and hearing a lot more of Dr Meakers talent.

After a successful festival season Step 13 retreated to the studio to reform and regroup, now it’s time for them to grace the stage once more in promotion of their forthcoming single ‘Crowded Room’ which will be released for free later in the year.

“What differentiates Step 13 from most other bands around is the way they manipulate the mood of the crowd like the very best DJs. They grab your attention and lift you up with their epic opener, space you out with laid-back grooves, then get everyone jumping around with infectious raggamuffin exuberance, before bringing the place to a breathless, sweaty climax with full-on, hard-hitting mash-up music.” -Ben Thrush (DOA)

Lastly but not least, Arabada are from Watford and describe themselves as an organic improvisational live drum and bass band (with a hint of Dubstep!). Expect laid back liquid grooves and jaw dropping drum breaks from this up and coming collective.

As well as all of this there’ll be2 rooms of dj sets from some of London’s finest up and coming Dj & MC talent all the way through till 5am !!

See you there!
