BORED YOUTH ON PROZAC ON 14th JUNE 2008

The best in upfront alternative post-modern rock'n'roll debauchery !

THE BRUTE CHORUS

The Brute Chorus, have been combining garage, blues and folk music with a scatology of Biblical stories, nursery rhymes and fairy tales since March. They’ve been taking it to the people with sets at The Secret Garden Party, Danny McNamara’s The Aftershow in Manchester, and a monthly residency at Camden’s infamous Hawley Arms pub and became MySpace front page featured artists along the way. They live together in a flat in Whitechapel formerly inhabited by Bow Wow Wow, so they claim.

The band’s first release was a charming offering of psyched-out garage-folk put out on the Hawley Arms backed Bumpman records. The ltd edition AA side 7” sold out – and is currently available for download.

THE STEERS

The Steers have attracted great support before their first single has even been released. They were recently announced as winners of the 2007 Diesel-U-Music awards, and have been personally selected by The Hold Steady to be main support for their UK tour in July.

James and Sid first formed The Steers from within the confines of Sid’s student bedroom, a space resourcefully used not just as a sleeping area but also as a recording studio-come-gig venue. Ben and Kris joined the band some time later, after James and Sid has sifted through 12 other members, and were united by a mutual fondness bands like The Jam, Blur, Radiohead and The Clash.

BO PEPPER

Deliciously cheeky indie puppet pop:

“The music is great! Like St Etienne rubbing sun tan lotion over T-Rex on a crowded beach…” - Artrocker

“Current single ‘Blink and you’ll miss it’ mixes irresistible Strokesy-guitar riffs, Johnny Dangerous’ incessant beats and Bo’s harmonies to craft a rough diamond of a pop gem. “ - Rockfeedback

"Kooky, charming, indie-pop with honest, heartfelt lyrics". - Eddy Temple Morris, XFM DJ

THE RANK DELUXE

"If people are intolerant, you’ve gotta punch ‘em in the f**king mouth.” (Rich, The Rank Deluxe, NME 26th September 2006)

Hailing from south east London, The Rank Deluxe are an atypical indie outfit by any standard, sharing as much of an affinity with Grime or old school UK punk as they do with most of their supposed contemporaries. In thrall to no one, by turns willful, divisive and difficult, but also intuitive and funny, with a knack for aligning musical and social commentaries that similarly characterized bands like The Specials, Gang of Four or Ian Dury in the late ‘70s. Their influences are Ian Dury and the Blockheads, Mars Volta, Jimi Hendrix, The Police and The Buzzcocks, Gang of Four, Aphex Twin, Square Pusher and The Sex Pistols.

BUSTER SHUFFLE

"Promising new East London band Buster Shuffle show off their “rockney” charms. They're a rock n’ roll/ska band – think Chas & Dave meet Jack Penate. Take my word for it, they’re rockin’." - The Sun
